When Katie announced her engagement I was one breath short of a panic attack. Unlike so many Mothers of the Bride who are excited and ready to jump right into action, I was a true rookie at the whole wedding thing. I was the deer in the headlights, one hoof short of being run over by the oncoming SUV.
Despite my slow and pathetic start, fourteen months later when Kate was officially a Brennan and her wedding gown museum quality sealed, I sat wondering, “I just earned an advanced degree in event planning, wedding etiquette and financial tweaking. Now what do I do with all this knowledge?”
I think I found my answer reading “When One ‘I Do’ Is Not Enough” from last Sunday’s Style section of the New York Times. (Don’t let that fact mislead you on my political persuasion.) Why not grab that man you have spent a life time molding into perfection, and renew your wedding vows? You are now armed with the information and vendors needed to throw yourself a nice little post ceremony party. Maybe this time you could add those extras you missed out on the first time around.
On second thought, if I had the money to give my husband and me a second wedding, I would much prefer to board a plane, head to our favorite resort, Regent Palms in Turks & Caicos, and renew our vows together, Tanguery and tonic in hand, on the beach watching the blazing sunset.
